Molecular analysis of the F4 progenies obtained through pollen selection for heat tolerance in maize (Zea mays)

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the present study, three sets of F4 progeny lines developed through different cycles pollen selection for heat tolerance were studied genetic differences using 16 SSR markers during 2017–20 at Department Plant Biotechnology, University Agricultural Sciences, Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Three groups progenies used study are GGG (pollen in F1, F2 and F3 generation); GCG only F1 CCC (no generation). Five randomly selected cross stress susceptible BTM4 tolerant BTM6 represented each group. The differed significantly number male parent alleles as evidenced by markers. (GGG) had more type compared to (GCG) (CCC) lines. recorded female other (GGG GCG) effectiveness towards increasing frequency their transmission succeeding has been demonstrated study.

Selection of inbred maize (Zea mays L.) progenies by topcrosses conducted in contrasting environments.

The aim of this study was to identify inbred progenies of S0:1 maize (Zea mays L.) plants that were efficient at a low level of technology and responsive at a high level of technology through the use of topcrosses. Two contrasting environments were created using two levels of base fertilization and topdressing, so that the levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium were applied four times hi...

Salicylic Acid Induced Salinity Tolerance in Maize (zea Mays)

Salicylic acid (SA) a naturally occurring plant hormone is an essential signal molecule recognized to have diverse effects on biotic and abiotic stress tolerance. The present study was planned to investigate the role of SA in salt tolerance of maize. Experiment was conducted to study the SA induce physiological and biochemical changes in two genotypes of maize viz., Sahiwal-2002 and EV-20 in th...

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

Genetic Effects Conferring Heat Tolerance in a Cross of Tolerant × Susceptible Maize (Zea mays L.) Genotypes

Incessant rise in ambient temperature is threatening sustainability of maize productions, worldwide. Breeding heat resilient synthetics/hybrids is the most economical tool while lack of knowledge of gene action controlling heat and yield relevant traits in maize is hampering progress in this regard. The current study, therefore, was conducted using analyses of generation mean and variance, and ...

Epistasis in Maize (zea Mays

ISHER (1918) provided a framework for the characterization of genotypic variance whereby he partitioned it into three components: ( 1 ) a portion associated with the average effects of genes, (2) a portion associated with dominance effects (allelic interactions) of genes, and (3) a portion associated with epistatic effects (nonallelic interactions) of genes. A logical method for the further sub...
